Northwest Wine Fan -The Tasting Panel
The Tasting Panel originated in September of 2003 when Kevin and I were looking for something to do on Tuesday nights. Our significant others had weekly meetings of their own and we thought this would be a good opportunity to do something together.

Vino Mercato had just opened in August of that year. We were acquaintances of the owners from wine tastings around town and thought this would be a great place to expand our knowledge. So it was, that Kevin and I started going every Tuesday evening. Before long a tasting group started to emerge with others who were serious about learning more about wine.. With this small group established, we started branching out, meeting at other social gatherings and having wine dinners and get togethers at each others houses. Vino Mercato has long since closed but our group and friendship endures.
These are our trusted tasters. They help shape the wines that Northwest Wine Fan is proud to represent and present to you.

This simple beverage, friendship and the desire to learn more about ourselves and our passions is what
The Tasting Panel is all about.

My wine awakening dates back to the 1970's when I traveled to Napa Valley on vacation. There I would revel in the wineries and restaurants.
I did not know about the Paris Wine Tasting at the time, just that I was drinking some pretty cool wine. I look back fondly of those times now and realize that the Cabernet and Chardonnay I enjoyed those many years ago was a great foundation for my appreciation of wine.

We both enjoy spending time in the kitchen. Since I am an avid hunter and fisherman, we are always eager to try new ways to prepare the birds, game and fish that I bring home. We are always looking for that perfect pairing of wine and food. Because of that we have a very diverse wine collection at home. When out and about I am always looking at and tasting wine, pondering what food that particular wine will pair well with.
